I have a colleague that was having problems with his Windows XP laptop. It would not boot up, the problem was with the boot sector.

We took the hard drive out and tried couple of external enclosures to see if we can retrieve the data that way and none of them was able to read the hard drive.

I put a RescueMeUSB™ in and I was able to retrieve the data without any problems. I was able to run some diagnostic test on the hard drive with the tools that came with RescueMeUSB.
